“Rethinking: Improving Temporary Living Spaces After Disasters” Student Idea Competition Concluded

The Student Idea Competition titled “Rethinking: Improving Temporary Living Spaces after Disasters” organized by the Architectural Research Association (MIMARDER) in cooperation with SANKO Holding has been concluded. Award Ceremony and Project Exhibition “Trace” was held at ITU Faculty of Architecture. 

The opening of the exhibition named “Trace” where the competing projects can be seen and the Award Ceremony took place with the participation of Prof. Dr. Ismail Koyuncu, Rector of Istanbul Technical University, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Küçükmehmetoğlu, Dean of  Faculty of Architecture of Istanbul Technical University, Dr. Ahmet Gun, Founder of MIMARDER, and senior executives of SANKO Holding, which supported the project. 

Hilal Savcı, Real Estate Director of SANKO, who served as a jury in the project competition, made a speech at the opening and handed over the awards to the award-winning teams. 

The event ended with an open forum titled “Cities Immune to Earthquakes”. 

4 of the teams that presented their designs in order to develop solution proposals for the “improvement” of changing life flow and daily life relations through the development of spatial elements and to re-evaluate the existing spatial potentials of temporary living spaces established after disasters were awarded. An exhibition titled “Trace” of the projects participating in the competition and an Open Forum were organized.
